Dr. Marnix Heersink

Dr. Marnix Heersink

Dr. Marnix Heersink graduated from University of Western Ontario with both a B.A. and an M.D. After multiple fellowships and training programs, Dr. Heersink began performing complex surgeries like intraocular lens implantations, prior to moving his practice to Dothan.

Dr. Heersink is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International College of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

The Heersink family has become an established part of the community here in Dothan by giving back and supporting the growth of the community. Dr. Marnix Heersink’s charitable interests include the Boy Scouts of America. Dr. Heersink himself has served on the Executive Board of Alabama/Florida Council of Boy Scouts, as well as on the Executive Board of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.

Dr. Sebastian Heersink

Dr. Sebastian Heersink

Dr. Sebastian Heersink is a corneal specialist with a focus in diagnosis, management, and surgical treatments of cataracts, including complicated cataract procedures, comprehensive ophthalmic care, and other refractive surgery. He is a member of multiple professional groups, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

During his time at Georgetown University, he was inducted into the National Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Following a research fellowship at the National Eye Institute, he completed his Ophthalmology training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
